Novak has won the US Open on 3 occasions (2011, 2015, 2018). Last year, Djokovic had to withdraw in the 4th round when he was playing against Wawrinka because of a problem to his shoulder.
Ranked no.1, Djokovic played his last match on the 29th of February when he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4 in the final in Dubai to win his 79th career title.
At the moment, this season the Serbian has a 18-0 win-loss record. Novak conquered 2 titles in 2020 at the Australian Open and in Dubai.
Serena Williams and her 24th slam
Serena will chase her 24th slam at the upcoming US Open. The American sensation has lost the last 2 finals in New York against Naomi Osaka and Bianca Andreescu. Winning the upcoming US Open would allow Serena to finally match Margaret Court’s record.
Now the world no.9, Serena played her last match on the 8th of February when she surrendered to Anastasija Sevastova 7-65 3-6 7-64 in the Rubber 4 of the Fed Cup.
