The world nr.1 had another good start in the second set when he manage to break immediately Gulbis’ serve.
Worried about his own conditions Nadal called the trainer. After that, he managed to secure the set 6-3.
Nadal will play in the semis against the winner of the match between Davydenko and Karlovic.
On the other side of the draw, world nr.2 Roger Federe had a comfortable win over Victor Troiki (6-2 6-2).
