Stan Wawrinka has been one of the few players in the recent history of tennis that have managed to consistently create problems for Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal.
The Swiss managed to achieve the impossible to conquer 3 slams in an era completely dominated by the big3 (“aliens”) and with the additional and huge disturbance of Andy Murray. During a recent interview with the l’Illustré, he explains why he was so proud of what he has achieved.
“I assume it completely and I am proud of it. I think that’s what makes me popular. After my first Grand Slam victory, people said to themselves: “Hey, it’s a guy like us who succeeded. This means we can all do it! ” Whereas Roger, Rafa, and Novak are aliens who have always been above everyone else. I got there much later,” Wawrinka told.
Then Stan revealed that he has never imagined having achieved so much in his career as he just hoped to make a living out of tennis.
“What I accomplished. I won practically everything that was possible. Young, I never imagined I could accomplish 10% of it all. When I won Roland-Garros junior in 2003, I was just hoping to make it into the top 100 and make a living from tennis. As a child, I never thought I would one day have the level to win a Grand Slam tournament,” he added.

Ranked no.4, Roger played his last match on the 30th of January when he was defeated by Novak Djokovic 7-61 6-4 6-3 in the semifinal of the Australian Open.

At the moment ranked no.1, Novak played his last match on the 29th of February when he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4 in the final in Dubai to win his 79th career title.
During this season Djokovic has a 18-0 win-loss record. The Serbian clinched 2 titles in 2020 at the Australian Open and in Dubai.
Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic played each other 50 times. The head to head is 27-23 for Djokovic. The last time that they competed against each other, Novak Djokovic won 7-61 6-4 6-3 in the semifinal in Melbourne (Australian Open) on the 30th of January 2020.
Rafael Nadal in 2020
Now the world no.2, the Spaniard played his last match on the 29th of February when he beat Taylor Fritz 6-3 6-2 in the final in Acapulco to win his 85th career title.
Presently, this year Rafael has a 13-3 win-loss record. Nadal has won 1 title in Acapulco.

Now ranked no.17, Wawrinka played his last match on the 27th of February when he capitulated to Grigor Dimitrov 6-4 6-4 in the quarter in Acapulco.
Stan Wawrinka’s most significant performance of the current year was getting to the semi-finals in Doha.
Rafael Nadal and Stan Wawrinka played each other 22 times. The head to head is 19-3 for Nadal. The last time that they locked horns, Rafael Nadal won 6-4 6-4 in the 3rd round in Paris (BNP Paribas Masters) in October 2019.
