Danielle Collins hit the headlines for the wrong reason after being dismissed from the World TeamTennis for breaking the strick protocol imposed by the organization. The American champion left the premises and the state of West Virginia allegedly breaking the rules of the event.

However, as reported by the New York Times, Danielle Collins maintained that she didn’t break any rule. Collins was also criticized for the fact that recently she slammed Novak Djokovic for not wanting to follow the rules and protocols set for the upcoming US Open to keep the stakeholders safe.

“I don’t feel I intentionally broke a rule so I don’t feel it affects what I said about the U.S. Open. There was a waiver that I signed that was specific to the safety protocols and practices that were to take place during World Team Tennis, and it didn’t have any mention of not leaving the hotel,” said Danielle.

However, according to Carlos Silva, the chief executive of World Team Tennis, the fact that the players couldn’t leave the premises was explained multiple times. Silva also gave the benefit of the doubts to Danielle Collins to say:

“I don’t think Danielle was trying to do anything bad, but it put us in a situation where you’ve got to uphold what you are trying to do here so we can keep the other 150 people here safe.”
