CORONAVIRUS. Why Danielle Collins was dismissed from the World TeamTennis event

Danielle Collins

Danielle Collins is one of the most appealing American players on tour for her great tennis and a strong desire to excel. The world no.51 was playing the World TeamTennis in West Virginia, an event that was following stringent protocols to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.

Unfortunately, Danielle was dismissed from the competitions as she broke the protocol leaving the premises (The Greenbrier Resort) and the state of West Virginia.

This was the official statement from the WTT CEO Carlos Silva

“We have dismissed Danielle Collins (Orlando Storm) for the remainder of the 2020 World TeamTennis season after breaking our COVID-19 protocols and leaving The Greenbrier Resort and the state of West Virginia.

The protocols have been put in place and communicated numerous times to protect the health and safety of our players, coaches and staff which are of utmost importance to WTT.”

Danielle and Djokovic

While it’s not clear while Danielle left the premises (therefore the benefit of the doubt has to be given), it’s curious to notice that in the recent past, the American ace criticized Djokovic for not wanting to adhere to the strict protocols that will be imposed at the upcoming US Open
