Great, great, and great news again from the Czech Republic and Austria as tennis is gradually coming back!
People in the Czech Republic can now play tennis and go swimming besides shop at hardware and bicycle stores.
In Austria, tennis is planned to be back from the 1st of May. Dominic Thiem’s country has been doing an excellent job in containing the Coronavirus outbreak to open thousands of small shops last Tuesday. They will go to the next level at the beginning of May when people can play outdoor activities such as tennis, golf and athletics.
Is tennis really on its way back?
Governments all over the world are trying to understand how to release the measures. Dr. Anthony Fauci has just confirmed his idea that professional Baseball and Football can be back during this summer if played without fans. It’s therefore plausible to foresee the possibility of the American swing to be played in August.
By definition, there is no contact in tennis, especially when playing singles, and therefore it’s one of the sports that could be back relatively soon at least at an amatorial level. Pro-tennis can also be back if the tours and the slams find the right formula!
Dominic Thiem’s ranking and performance in 2020
Ranked no.3 (career-high), the Austrian played his last match on the 22nd of February when he lost to Gianluca Mager 7-64 7-5 in the quarter in Rio De Janeiro.
Dominic Thiem’s most significant result of the current season was getting to the final at the Australian Open.
