The Laver Cup attacks the Roland Garros after the “schedule aggression”

Laver Cup

During tough moments people and organizations need to work together. This is the message that was sent by the US Open after the shocking unilateral decision of the French Open to postpone its event soon after the American slam affecting and disrupting 9 other events.

Many tennis players looked upset by the announcement for the lack of collaboration of the Roland Garros organization and the fact that it didn’t even bother to inform the players before tweeting the decision. Vasek Pospisil called this act as selfish and arrogant.

The Laver Cup vs. the Roland Garros

The French Open decided (!) to hold the event from the 20th of September until the 4th of August. Using the words of renowned tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg, this “French Open’s aggression” wasn’t taken nicely by the Laver Cup that is scheduled to be played the 25-27 September in Boston (!!!) with all tickets already sold. The Laver Cup confirms that the event is not canceled to release the following statement:

“The tennis world learned today that the French Tennis Federation intends to schedule Roland Garros from Sept 20 – Oct 4, 2020 due to the impact of COVID-ig. These dates overlap with the dates of Laver Cup 2020, already sold out, and scheduled for September 25 – 27, 2020 at TD Garden in Boston.
This announcement came as a surprise to us and our partners – Tennis Australia, the USTA and the ATP. It raises many questions and we are assessing the situation. At this time, we want our fans, sponsors, broadcasters, staff, volunteers, players and the great city of Boston to know that we intend to hold Laver Cup 2020 as currently scheduled.”

This is going to be interesting!
