All Australia is waiting for Sam to win the home slam. It is a wishiful thinking, but not impossible especially after winning the US Open in 2011.
A bit of choking
Besides the fact that to win the AO she should defeat montrous competitors such as Azarenka, Sharapova and Serena Williams, she has a big problem: when she plays on the home soil she tends to choke.
This is exactly what happened last year to incredibly win only one match in 2012 in Australia as she lost in Sydney and Melbourne in the first round and in Bribane in the second!
That needs to change
Sam is as deermined as ever to change her performance when playing in Australia. Brisbane and Sydney are two tricky build up tournaments to comment
“Gosh, you can’t really get two tougher tournaments before a grand slam let alone the first one of the year,” Stosur said.
“It’s going to be really tough, a really good way to see the benchmark and what you’ve got to do to improve before Melbourne.
“But everything’s going well and I feel like I’m in a good spot at the moment with another week and a bit to go before Brisbane.
“I’m sure by the time I play my first match, I’ll be as ready as I’ll ever be.”
About the Australian Open
Sam said that “there’s no secret formula” and…
“Obviously you tweak things here and there, but I’m not going to all of a sudden change my whole routine between points or anything like that.
“I don’t think that’s going to be beneficial.”
Let’s see what she can get this year… it would be really nice if she can reach at least the semifinals.
Here Sam getting her fitness… It’s clear you don’t get as fit if you (only) eat popcorns on the coach…;-)
