Zvonareva to miss the Australian Open due to a shoulder injury

Tough luck for Vera. Currently ranked world no.96 the Russian had a really lousy 2012. She didn’t manage to win any single title to be very close to get out the top 100. That’s quite a different situation from 2010 when she maanged to reach the final in Wimbledon and at the US Open.

The 28 years-old Russian will not play in Auckland and even worse in Melbourne. The Australian Open announced the withdrawal through twitter with the following message “Sorry to report that Vera Zvonareva has withdrawn from the AO due to a continuing right shoulder injury,”
