Raonic awarded as the Canada’s best player of the year

Milos had a remarkable 2012. The Canadian climbed from the 31st to the 13th (career high) position in the ATP rankings and he is now posed to break into the top10. In addition Milos has also won 2 titles in San Jose (defending his 2011 title) and Chennai.

For this reason Raonic has been awarded as Canada’s best player of the year.

From Milos

“It is a great honour to receive this recognition from Tennis Canada again this year,” Raonic said

“It was a great season but I’m working to continue to grow and develop as a player.

All the support I’ve received this year from the Canadian fans has been incredible and I’m excited to see the growth of our sport continue in Canada.”

Other awards

Nestor won the award as the best players in doubles for the 12th consecutive year. Nestor’s season highlight was winning the Roland Garros with 4 other titles.

Filip Peliwo was named as the best junior and the most improved player of the year. Peliwo is still ranked 521st in the world, but he has bright chances to soon break into the top 100.
