Ferrer faces Dolgopolov in final – 2012 Valencia – Youtube

This week is about top guys playing finals in their hometown. Roger is strolling around with his bycicle in Basel, and David is having paella in Valencia and both are about to play for the title… what’s better than that?

Ferrer – Dodig 6-4 6-7 (5) 6-1

Sticky match for Ferrer with the qualifier. Dodig was having a fine week as he defeated 3 top players (Kohlschreiber, Hewitt and Cilic) to reach the semifinal, and… it didn’t make it easy for Ferrer either.

The match ended after 2 hours and 42 minutes after the Dodig dragged the home favorite to the decider. Then the world no.110 melted to give way to Ferrer (6-1).

Dolgopolov – Melzer 6-4 6-3

Crazy Dolgopolov is having a wonderful tournament to win all matches in straight comfortable sets. There was no match with Melzer. Alexandr blasted 9 aces on 9 service games to win 61 points vs Melzer’s 44.

The Final

Head to Head is 4-1 for Ferrer that is the favorite to win his 3rd title in Valencia (after 2008 vs Almagro and 2010 vs. Granollers), but Dolgopolov is playing really well…
