If you aim at getting at the very top of pro-tennis, you really need to want it! Sometimes you succeed, sometimes you don’t, but the spark has to be there.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is definitely committed to the cause, and he tried everything he could to edge Sascha Zverev in the Washington semifinal. The Greek even managed to amaze the fans with an incredible diving volley (on hard court!), but eventually, he couldn’t do much more against the German.
Stefanos was caught beating himself on court repeatedly before smashing a bottle of Gatorade on the floor to raise many eyebrows.
This action didn’t have the same consequences as the famous tantrum of Youzhny when he beat himself with the racket so much that he had to ask for a doctor, but it was equally… bizarre.
