History made in Russia.
17-year-old Olga Danilovic beats Anastasia Potapova (same age) in 3 sets after a fantastic final in Moscow.
The young Serbian had an astonishing run in Moscow where she accessed the main draw as a lucky loser after she lost in the qualifications to Paula Badosa Gibert.
After getting in the main draw, the teenager got to the final without losing a single set on the way.
The final
The final was a thriller. The Serbian recovered a 1-4 deficit before winning the opener 7-5. Later, Olga squandered a championship point when she was leading 5-4 40-30 in the second set. After she lost the following tiebreak at 1 everything seemed to point to a rapid implosion. However, the duo engaged in a tough dogfight full of breaks, and it was Danilovic that finally managed to win the final 7-5 6-7 (1) 6-4.
This seems to be the first title of a very long series for Olga. Potapova needs to wait a bit more for her maiden title (that will also come soon).
