Bianca Andreescu is finally back to competitions in Beijing after her US Open title.
The Canadian sensation decided to take a break after New York and skip Osaka and Wuhan to recover from her leg injury. Bianca is now in China where she will try to win yet another title, and she is rather confident about her chances to comment
“Well, I’m feeling pretty confident. I’ve been having some really good practices lately. I had a good training week in Toronto and in Montreal. Now here. I got here four days ago, and I’ve been practicing really well. So I’m feeling pretty confident.”
Andreescu’s projected path in Beijing
Bianca is extremely upbeat even if she has a rather tough draw in Beijing. She may even face rather early top players such as rising Amanda Anisimova (3rd round) and Naomi Osaka (quarters).
This is Bianca’s projected path:
R1Â – Sasnovich
R2Â – Mertens
R3Â – Anisimova
1/4 – Osaka
1/2 – Pliskova
Fin – Barty
Andreescu’s chances to qualify for Shenzhen
Even if Bianca is well poised to qualify for the WTA Finals, she still needs (only) 38 points to get to Shenzhen. This means that Andreescu needs to just reach the 2nd round in Beijing to be sure to get to the finals.
