That wasn’t nice.
Caroline Wozniacki had a rather lousy day on and off the court on Wednesday.
The world no.2 was hoping for a great run in Wimbledon, but eventually, she had to bow in the 2nd round to the world no. 35 Ekaterina Makarova that won a roller-coaster 6-4 1-6 7-5.
Caroline was struggling to digest the loss especially after she managed to erase a 1-5 deficit in the decider (5-5) before folding in the last service game.
She was lucky; she won’t go far. WOZNIACKI
The most shocking part of the match was the following press conference from Caroline that said
“I did everything I could. I fought as hard as I could. I can’t even be mad at myself because I played up to the level that I can.
I think Makarova played above her level and really raised it and got a little lucky. It’s frustrating because I feel like I could have gone and done something really great here.
I don’t understand what one has to do with the other. I lost today. It’s obviously not the way I wanted the day to go.
I played someone who went all-in with every single shot. I fought all I had. I just lacked just a little bit today. I played someone who played extremely well. I don’t know that she would be able to keep up this level for the rest of the tournament. I would be very surprised if you saw her go far.”
Here is video of one of the Caro Wozniacki quotes going around. I think text takes out context so here is the video.#Wimbledon pic.twitter.com/yr8NDJjQpr

The frustration is understandable, but Caroline has a big experience on tour, she should handle tough losses in a better way. That’s also why tennis fans love the likes of Federer, Nadal, and Simona Halep.
That quote doesn’t read…. great considering Makarova has made it to the Wimbledon QFs previously while Wozniacki hasn’t. https://t.co/yA0m3RITXy
