Kyrgios blasts 32 aces to edge Edmund

Nick Kyrgios displays excellent tennis again during a tough match against Kyle Edmund.

The Australian looked pretty good in Stuttgart where he lost in the semifinal after a fantastic match against an in-form Federer; then he defeated Andy Murry in the Queen’s opener; now he beats a solid Edmund in the 2nd round in London. That’s pretty good ahead of Wimbledon.

The match

Nick and Edmund went to the third set after sharing the first 2 sets at the tiebreaks with none of them losing their serve on the way. The only difference between them in the decider was when the Australian broke Edmund in the 4th game to then win the contest 7-6 (3) 6-7 (5) 6-3.

Kyrgios’ serve was out of this world with Nick blasting 32 aces and dropping just 9 points on his first serve. Nick conceded only 1 break point in the entire match.

Draw and Results

He is really good on grass. KYRGIOS

Soon after the match, Nick was all praises for his opponent to comment

“He’s really good on grass. He serves well. His backhand has improved really a lot. He’s got a good forehand. He returns well. He sliced well. His intangibles were good. I would definitely put him [among the favorites at Wimbledon].”

Next vs. Lopez

Nick will face Feliciano Lopez in the quarters. The head to head is 2-2; Nick leads 2-0 on grass, and he defeated Feliciano 4 days ago the quarters in Stuttgart.
