Simona Halep concedes 5 games to Petkovic

Simona Halep has a fantastic performance against Andrea Petkovic to concede just 5 games to the German in the Roland Garros 3rd round.

The Romanian managed to overcome a slow start (0-2) to make it even (2-2) and then win the 1st set 7-5. After Petkovic got a bit injured to her knee, things got much smoother in the second set for Simona that didn’t concede a single game after she dropped just 6 points. The final score was 7-5 6-0, and the match ended after 88 minutes.

Soon after the match, Simona shared why she is getting more and more confident to comment

“I play better and better day by day. I can say that today I really felt the ball and the game. The way that I finished pretty strong gives me confidence. I can say it was the best match here at this tournament.”

Next vs. Mertens

Simona will play the world no. 16 Elise Mertens in the 4th round. The head to head is 1-0 for the Romanian that has recently conceded just 3 games to the Belgian in Paris after winning 6-0 6-3.
