The 21-year-old believes he has learned some valuable lessons from playing in both team tournaments.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has had a busy month. The Greek player has played in the Davis Cup and recently made his debut at the Laver Cup. He has fared well in both tournaments, helping Greece advance in the Davis Cup and winning the Laver Cup with Team Europe over the weekend. The 21-year-old was a key player for his team in Geneva and even played doubles matches with the game most successful players, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Grand Slam exits

Tsitsipas has had some poor results recently in his singles matches. He reached the semifinals of the Australian Open this year. The player, however, suffered some disappointing exits in the other three Grand Slams during the year. He lost to Stan Wawrinka at the French Open, followed by defeat to Italian Thomas Fabbiano at Wimbledon. In the final Grand Slam of the year, Tsitsipas did not make it past the first round of the US Open, losing to Andrey Rublev.

Davis Cup debut

The world No. 7 has said that he was disappointed with his performances at those tournaments. However, he put his frustrations aside and focused on playing at the Davis Cup and the Laver Cup where he has enjoyed team success. The 21-year-old has was proud to represent his country after playing in his first Davis Cup match this month. Playing in Athens, Tsitsipas defeated Tom Diederich of Luxembourg in 48 minutes. He noted that team events had different energy and he feels special, especially when celebrating with teammates.

Tsitsipas has been even more impressed with team events after winning the Laver Cup with Team Europe over the weekend. The Australian Open semifinalist said that playing with Federer and Nadal had been an amazing experience. After playing the Davis Cup and the Laver Cup this month, Stefanos has revealed that he had enjoyed playing with the different teams and experiencing team spirit. He said, “I needed the team competition in tennis. I have been doing everything on my own out on the court, and it kind of was needed for me to be part of a union and a team. I’m glad it all connected and was puzzled perfectly, Davis Cup, Laver Cup in two weeks.” With the player struggling to find form in the singles matches, he said that the two tournaments had given him some confidence. “I think competitions like this can open up, it can bring new ideas and also give me confidence.”
