Novak Djokovic delivered a rather ominous message to his detractors!
The former world no.1 conceded only 1 game to his friend Dusan Lajovic in the Monte Carlo opener to win 6-0 6-1 in just 56 minutes. Nole conquered the first set in just 22 minutes, and Lajovic managed to get on the scoreboard only after 8 games when he was 0-6 1-1 down. The crowd was elated for Dusan’s “accomplishment,” but that was it: Djokovic won the following 5 games to get to the 2nd round in style.
It was a great start of the tournament. DJOKOVIC
Soon after the match, Nole commented
“I thought it was good considering the amount of matches I’ve played in the last almost 12 months. I thought, all in all, it was a great start of the tournament.”
Next vs. Coric
Nole will face Borna Coric in the 2nd round. The head to head is 1-0 for the Serbian.
