Isner wins the title in Miami!

This edition of the Miami Open has been a real triumph for American tennis after the titles of Sloane Stephens, the Bryans, and now John Isner.

John had a remarkable run in Florida to possibly play the best tennis of his life, and that came after a disastrous start of he the season. In fact, the American managed to win just 1 match in singles since the beginning of the season before the Master 1000 in Miami.

Eventually, Isner found the solution in Kei Biscayne to conquer his first Master ATP1000 after defeating top (an in-form) players such as Marin Cilic, Hyeon Chung, Juan Martin Del Potro, and Sascha Zverev.

The final

Isner and Zverev went toe to toe for the entire match, but at the end of the day, it was the American to never drop his serve while Zverev was broken twice. In fact, after winning the opening set at the breaker, the German dropped his serve in the 9th game (4-5) of both the second and the third set to lose the contest 6-7 (4) 6-4 6-4. Zverev appeared extremely nervous during the crucial moments, and he played a too conservative tennis when he lost the 2 decisive break points.

It was absolutely amazing. ISNER

After the match, John commented

“To win like that in front of a crowd like that, with that atmosphere, you can’t replicate moments like that. It was absolutely amazing.

This tournament has so much history. All the best players have played here through the years. For Sascha and I to share the court in the last men’s singles match ever here at this tournament is amazing. I never thought I would be at this moment considering how I was playing coming into this event.”
