Maria Sharapova didn’t have the dream comeback she was hoping for after her ban for doping.
The Russian beauty had a 16-7 record in 2017 when she won only 1 title in Tianjin, and she has a not-so-good 5-4 record in 2018.
Maria has lost the last 3 matches she has played and crashing out in the Indian Wells opener at the hands of Naoi Osaka was too much for the Russian that eventually decided to take the decision of parting ways with her coach Sven Groeneveld after 4 years.

Sharapova release the following statement on her website
“After four successful and challenging years of collaboration together, I would like to thank Sven for his incredible loyalty, work ethic and most importantly the friendship that we have formed that will go beyond this working partnership.
Although we have mutually agreed to part ways during this time, I have been incredibly fortunate to have a team leader like him in my corner for the past four years.”

Groeneveld released the following statement also on Sharapova’s website
“Maria has been one of the most hardworking and professional players I have ever worked with. Her strength and fighting spirit will continue to be a force to reckon with, and I have the deepest respect for her as a player and person.”
