Tennis is better without a dominant Serena Williams. SIMONA HALEP

Serena Williams has been utterly dominant for the last few years. The American has won 23 slams, and she didn’t leave much to her colleagues. The WTA had a glimpse of a “tennis world without Serena” during last year when the tennis legend took a prolonged break for her pregnancy.

Eventually, there has been an exciting roller coaster at the top of the rankings, and the “winner” was Simona Halep that ended 2017 as the world no.1

Tennis is better without a dominant Serena Williams.

During a recent interview in Indian Wells, Simona expressed her opinion about the state of tennis to comment

“Many players are coming back and are hungry. I am curious to see Serena play. Now that she is not dominating, women’s tennis is more interesting.”

Then, talking about herself, Simona added “I expect more of myself. It is normal to be up and down, but I am not thinking about rankings. I am trying to win titles.

“I am always looking for perfection, but I have to be kind to myself. I still want to be a fighter and be furious on the court, but when I hit the ball, I have to be calm.”

Halep is now in the third round in Indian Wells.
