Simona Halep back to world no.1

Simona Halep is used to battle her heart on court to try to grab the first place in the rankings. Eventually, she made it for the first time last year in October.

This year Simona lost the top of the rankings after she was defeated in the Australian Open final by Caroline Wozniacki, but thanks to a deep run 2 weeks ago in Doha, she put herself in the position of being back to the world no.1 rank after last week.

In fact, after Caroline Wozniacki decided not to defend her points in Dubai where last year she lost in the final, it was just mathematics that Simona would have regained the top spot in the rankings.

Simona has also a sizeable 440pts lead over Caroline Wozniacki.

The big question mark for Simona is if she will be fit enough to play in Indian Wells after she had to take some time off for recovering from her foot injury.

Here the full rankings.
