Sascha Zverev was absolutely elated when he announced the partnership with the former world no. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero back in July 2017.
As soon as they started working together, Zverev won back to back the ATP500 in Washington and the ATP1000 in Montreal. After that, it was all a sort of the disaster with the actual world no.5 often struggling to win more than 2 consecutive matches.
Things got sideways also in 2018 after the German lost in the 3rd round in Melbourne and the 2nd in Rotterdam.
According to La Marca, they split after the Australian Open “for insurmountable differences” as Juan Carlos tried to “professionalize” Sascha not only on court, but also outside, and that was not very well received from the German.
For the time being, Sascha will rely on his father’s help.
