Federer starts his world no.1 chase with a 47 minutes win

Roger Federer impresses with an outstanding start of his Rotterdam campaign. The Swiss sensation needs to reach the semifinal in the Netherlands to be back to the world no.1 spot.

Roger started his run in Rotterdam after getting a fast 5-0 lead against Ruben Bemelmans in the first round with the Belgian conquering his first game after only 16 minutes. The rest of the match was also a walk in the park with Federer winning 6-1 6-2 after just 47 minutes and scoring 57 points vs. Bemelmans’s 25.

Soon after the match, during the press conference, Roger commented

“It was very surprising how good things went today. I think the key was to start off well and put Ruben under pressure right away and make him feel like he had to do something special.”

 

Next vs. Kohlschreiber

Roger will face Philipp Kohlschreiber in the 2nd round. The German is now ranked no.36, and he has just won his first match of the year in the first round against Khachanov. The head to head is 12-0 for the Swiss that is the hot favorite to reach the 3rd round.
