Zverev hopes that Federer gets back to world no.1

Roger Federer and Sascha Zverev are in great terms! The Swiss and the German are used to express their mutual admiration, and now Sascha is hoping that Roger will get back to the top of the rankings.

Currently ranked no.4, the German could face Federer in the semifinal in Rotterdam. If the Swiss gets to the final-4, he will accomplish his mission to get back to the top of the rankings to become the oldest man to be ranked no.1 in tennis history.

Zverev commented

“He might be the world No 1 after the week, so it’s obviously great to see him with such success still.

I don’t think even he could have expected that 13/14 months ago when he was outside the top 10, winning three majors in the last five.

It’s great, so I wish him the best of luck, and hopefully, he can get to the semi-finals, and we’ll see how everything else will go.”

Zverev has just reached the second round in Rotterdam after dismissing David Ferrer 6-4 6-3 while Federer will kick-start his tournament against Bemelmans.
