Kerber annihilates Sharapova

Angelique Kerber is having a sensational year!

The former world no.1 looked as strong as ever during the Hopman Cup, she won Sydney and she reaches the 4th round at the Australian Open without dropping a single set on the way.

Angelique impressed also and especially for her win against Maria Sharapova in the 3rd round after the German conceded just 4 games to the Russian beauty. There was no contest whatsoever between Angelique and Maria. In fact, the German won the opening set with a smooth 6-1. The only moment that Kerber blinked was when she gave back a break in the second set after leading 2-1. Eventually, Angelique’s tennis was too good, and the German won the match 6-1 6-3 in just 63 minutes.

I was trying to enjoy any moment. KERBER

Soon after the match, Kerber commented

“I have so many great memories from this court. I came out and I was trying to enjoy every point. Maria’s a champion, she played so good the last few weeks. I was really trying to play my game. I was really happy we have 2018 and not 2017.

I learned a lot from the last 24 months. I had a great 2016 and last year was tougher, but everyone who knows me knows I never give up.”

Angelique will face either Hsieh or her dear friend Radwanska in the 4th round.
