Garbine Muguruza, Venus Williams and Jelena Ostapenko are the stars at the Sydney International.
Garbine Muguruza is still trying to chase the world no.1 rank. The Spaniard is extremely close to Simona Halep in the rankings, but the Romanian will widen the gap after this week after she won the Shenzhen Open while Garbine crashed in the first round in of the Brisbane International.
All eyes will be also on Venus Williams that at 37 years of age is trying to win her 50th career title in singles.
Finally, seeded no.3, Jelena Ostapenko will try to have a deep run after she crashed out too early in Shenzhen where she lost in the first round at the hands of Krystina Pliskova.
The defending champion is Jo Konta that is now seeded no.4.
