Injured Nishikori withdraws from the Australian Open

Tough luck for Kei Nishikori and his fans.

The world no.22 announces that he is not ready yet to compete in best of 5 matches and therefore he withdraws from the upcoming Australian Open that will start the 15th of January. Key assures his fans that the rehabilitation of his wrist is going well and he has no doubts about a full recovery in the future.

Key commented “The Aussie Open is my favorite Slam. My rehab is going well, but I am just not ready 100 percent to come back yet in best of 5 set matches.”

This will be the second consecutive slam that the Japanese is not playing after he withdrew from the US Open.

Some other top players such as Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic are also in doubt if playing the Australian Open.
