The past two months have been a whirlwind for Canadian tennis superstar Bianca Andreescu. In the last five weeks alone, Andreescu defeated tennis icon, Serena Williams, twice. But more importantly, she won both the Rogers Cup and the U.S. Open. Because of her achievements, Andreescu is getting hailed for putting Canada on the map in the world of tennis.
Justin Trudeau praises Bianca Andreescu’s mother and father
The fact that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had been singing Andreescu praises since she won only confirms how big her achievement is. When the world No. 5 won her match against Williams a week ago, Trudeau immediately tweeted his congratulations. Prime Minister also said that the 19-year old tennis player made her whole country proud.
When Andreescu went to her hometown of Mississauga as part of her victory tour, Trudeau was also there to receive her. In a speech during the celebration rally, Trudeau also thanked Andreescu’s parents for choosing Canada as the country where they will raise their family in. He also commended them for doing a great job in raising their daughter who has now given Canada their first U.S. Open win.
Andreescu was born in Canada in 2000 but she started playing tennis in Romania. Bianca’s parents, Nicu and Maria, decided to move to Canada for good later.
In the same rally, the City of Mississauga also gave Andreescu a key to their city. It was also confirmed that the city will be renaming one of the streets in the area to honor her. Toronto, the city where 2019 U.S Open winner trained while growing up, also announced that they will hold a Bianca Andreescu Day to celebrate her win.

Other personalities congratulate Andreescu
Because of how groundbreaking her win is, Andreescu received congratulations from a lot of Canadian personalities. Eugenie Bouchard, the first Canadian woman to reach a tennis Grand Slam final, posted her congratulations with a picture of a big-screen TV of Andreescu receiving her trophy. The Twitter accounts for the Toronto Raptors, Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs also praised her, making the hashtag #SheTheNorth trend.
Current Wimbledon winner Simona Halep also sent Andreescu congratulations. Halep said that Bianca gave a great performance during the tournament and that Romania is proud of her achievement.

Ranked no.5 (career-high), the Canadian played her last match on the 7th of September when she defeated Serena Williams 6-3 7-5 in the final in U.S. Open to win her 3rd career title.
This year Andreescu has a 43-4 win-loss record. Bianca Vanessa conquered 4 titles in 2019 in the Newport Beach, in Indian Wells, in Toronto and at the U.S. Open. The Canadian was the finalist in Auckland.
