Injured Andreescu and Bencic will not play in Osaka the Toray Pan Pacific Open

Bad news from Bianca Andreescu after she announced that she will not compete in Osaka because of a right leg injury. The Canadian sensation has been struggling since the Rogers Cup with that leg, and she didn’t feel confident to get back to competitions so early after the US Open.

The 19-year-old released the following statement: “I’m sorry to have to miss The Toray Pan Pacific Open this year. I know It’s the biggest women’s tennis event in Japan and one that I look forward to playing in in the future. Hope to see you all soon!”

Belinda Bencic also out

Unfortunately, also the Swiss had to pull out from Japan because of a problem to her left foot. Belinda commented:

“I am sad not to be able to come to Osaka this year and play in the Toray Pan Pacific Open. I always love playing in Japan and especially in front of passionate fans, but I need to give my foot some rest before I start the Asia swing. I am looking forward to coming back to Japan next year and wish the tournament all the best for this year’s edition.”

The Toray Pan Pacific Open will commence the 16th of October, and the defending champion is Karolina Pliskova
