Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have one of the best rivalries the sports world has ever seen. The two have played some spectacular matches over the course of their careers which have left fans wanting more. Over the course of their illustrious careers, Federer and Nadal have played each other 40 times. Many of those matches have been Grand Slam finals as the two have battled each other for the biggest trophies in the game. Tickets Sold Out after 10 minutes
The two are scheduled to meet again in a charity exhibition match in South Africa. Tickets for the match were up for sale on September 4th. The 48,000 tickets were sold out in ten 10 minutes. According to ticket selling firm Computicket, fans bought all the tickets for the event scheduled to be played in Cape Town. On their Twitter account, the firm posted “SOLD OUT – Due to high demand, tickets for the much-anticipated Roger Federer vs. Rafael Nadal ‘The Match in Africa for the benefit of the Roger Federer Foundation’ are sold out. Tickets sold out in just over 10 minutes. In-store tickets that were available, are also sold out.”
Increase the capacity of the venue
Fans of the two superstars were understandably disappointed with the rate at which the tickets sold out. Janine Handel, CEO of the Roger Federer Foundation confirmed that the tickets were indeed sold out and they had been overwhelmed at the interest that fans had shown for the event. She said, “To all the fans out there who have booked – or tried to book – a ticket or a hospitality package this morning for the Match in Africa 6 event taking place in Cape Town next year, we are overwhelmed by the enthusiastic reaction on our ticket sales and we sincerely thank you for the overwhelming support” She noted that they would consider expanding the current 48000 capacity venue in order to make sure more fans attend the event. “Lines were opened up by Computicket at 9 am and within a record time of less than 10 minutes, the tickets were sold. To ensure that everybody has a good view, the event is running with the availability of 48,000 seats. We are considering adding more grandstands. Please keep an eye out for announcements if more tickets are available. Also, note that the event will also be televised.”

Nadal enjoys a 24-16 record against Federer but it is Federer who has won more Grand Slam titles with a total of 20. Nadal inched closer to equaling Federer’s Grand Slam total by winning the US Open to take his Grand Slam total to 19. “The Match in Africa” will take place on February 2020 with proceeds from the match going to the Roger Federer Foundation.Â

This year Rafael has a 47-6 win-loss record. Nadal clinched 4 titles in 2019 in Rome, at the French Open, in Montreal and at the U.S. Open. The Spaniard was the finalist at the Australian Open.
