Once again, Roger Federer is just too much for Benoit Paire.
Before this clash in Basel, the Swiss was already leading Paire 4-0 in head to head matches (9-0 in terms of sets), and on Thursday Roger gave another lesson to Benoit.
The match
This encounter wasn’t a big challenge for Federer that won the opener in just 23 minutes (6-1). The Frenchman gave a bit more resistance in the second set, but once again he dropped another couple of service games, and Federer won the contest in just 57 minutes 6-1 6-3. Federer scored 62 points vs. Paire’s 43.

Roger has defeated Tiafoe with the same result (6-1 6-3) in the Basel opener and is obviously elated with his tennis to comment
“It feels nice. I’ve played good tennis from the start of this tournament. There’s always extra pressure playing at home and wanting to do well and try to stay in the tournament. I’m happy to be through to the quarters, and we’ll see what happens now.”
Next vs. Mannarino
Roger will face Adrian Mannarino in the quarters. The head to head is 4-0 for Federer (10-0 in terms of sets).
