I was checking around about a ball machine and I wanted to see what people thought of the MatchMate Precision Tennis System( https://www.matchmatetennis.com/precision-tennis-system/). It seems exactly what I want but I wanted to see if others had any experience with it. It seems like it can do any shot sequence, how does that work? It comes with a laptop/tablet as the remote, is that good or bad? I have been really happy with my SAM P1 value but I was thinking about trying this out, thoughts?

Hey there!

A lot of good options out there. Personally, I prefer Lobster machines. For me, a battery operated machine is necessary and they make some of the best. It`s important to think about what oscillation level you want (can the ball machine hit to multiple sides of the court without you adjusting it?). I think at least two line oscillation is necessary to keep things interesting out on the court.

I wrote a bit more about what I think are the
best tennis ball machines here.

Cheers,

David.

P.S. - You can also check out some good tennis ball machine drills here.

Hi there,

Lots of decisions to make and finding the best tennis ball machine is no easy task. Personally, if you have the money, I`m partial to the Lobster Elite 3 Series. It`s an incredibly versatile machine and while not cheap, in my opinion, it is worth the price. Otherwise, I would recommend the Spinshot player. The phone remote control is a big selling point. Most other machines require that you purchase a separate remote...sometimes these cost as much as $300. But in all honesty, a remote isn`t absolutely necessary unless you want to show off :)

I wrote a longer review of what I consider to be the
best tennis ball machine here.

Thanks!

SPINSHOT PLAYER is absolutly the BEST ball machine. I did lot of research work and then ordered the SPINSHOT PLAYER. I had used it for over 5 month, and it has been the best decision I made on my sports toys. The drill maker APP can be easily used on iphone or Android to program each shot to make any drills you want for speed, height, angle, spin and feed rate. NO ball machine can do like that.

Search for Spinshot ball machine on Youtube, you can find videos for introduction. Check out reviews comments on Amazon against spinshot ball machine, you will see how good feedback it got from buyers.

I have LOBSTER SPORTS ELITE LIBERTY TENNIS BALL MACHINE . This tennis ball machine can do such things as vary the speed of the balls it shoots out at you and it is capable of doing full court oscillation too. With its large size wheels and light 35-pound weight it is also very easy for anyone to move on and off a tennis court. Definitely it is the bestTennis Ball Machines

I had the opportunity to be in contact with the developer of the Spinfire 2 ball machine and can attest to the fact that he is focussed on providing the best ball machine and service you can reasonably expect as well as being proud of the product he has developoed. Apart from that the features of this machine ticks all the boxes. If you are going to fork out the cash for a tennis ball machine, be careful to skimp on features – you really want to have the oscillation and remote control functions as that increases the usability and longlevity of the machine significantly. Also important to ensure that balls that is being hit back at the machine won’t cause any damage (knobs/controls damage or damage due to balls getting stuck in spinning wheels, etc) – here the spinfire 2 ticks all the boxes as well – do not underestimate the importance of this as it is a matter of time before something will go wrong if this has not been foreseen and accounted for in the design. In less than a year my daughter went from basically a beginner to making a strong provincial team despite being a year younger than the girls she computed against – a lot of that progress can be directly attributed to the quality and advanced functions of the spinfire 2.

Although an old post ... but if anyone is looking for a ball machine... I use feednplay in Hong Kong. Comes with a remote control. So far I like it very much. Local brand, at least I don`t have to ship it oversea if anything goes wrong.

Don`t expect honesty or service from Lobster if you have machine problems!

I ordered the Phenom 2 with the iPhone remote app. The app has never worked correctly or consistently. When it does decide to work you have to be within a couple of feet of the machine. I`m at a loss about what to do because of the such poor service and outright lies I`ve received from the company.
If you decide to order the machine, order it from vendor and not directly from the company. If you order from a vendor like Amazon or elsewhere at least you`ll have a "go between" and someone that might help you resolve any problems. Lobster could care less once you have the machine. Also, you`ll save freight costs since the vendors can`t discount the machine they normally ship for free. I needed the machine in a hurry and bought directly from Lobster...a huge mistake that cost me an extra $250 for freight. I called the company on Monday and was "guaranteed" the machine would ship that day or next and I`d have it by the end of the week for a tennis tournament we were sponsoring. For me, the extra $250 was worth it to ensure the machine was there prior to the tournament and I told the salesman that. I was told over and over again that wouldn`t be a problem.
When it didn`t arrive, I called the company numerous times and got the run-around (it would be there the next day, it was in transit, it was being delivered separately, it was lost, it was diverted to Dallas, etc.). It took over two weeks to arrive (after the tournament) and Manny told me because of the screw-up, they would refund my freight cost. That was in July....it`s December and, the check is always in the mail. These guys are scam-artists. Knowing what I know I would seriously look at other machines.

I like Lobter machines quite much but my personal choice was Wilson as it is perfectly portable. And the battery lasts 4 hours (fully charged). Optimal machine for personal training.

I am using a SPINSHOT-Pro. It is with spin control, remote and oscillation. The model have a telescoping handle and a big towing wheel which is very useful. I have used it for about 3 years on my weekly training, and no issue was found. I did compare price when I made the order and its price is pretty lower than other brand with similar feature. They set up service centre and hotline in UK and many other Europe countries which is important to me.

Hi Maria,

I am a big fan of tennis ball machines and have been using one for almost 2 years now. Before purchasing a machine I flew to Australia where I could try every brand of tennis ball machine because it is a significant investment and I wanted to make sure that I made the right choice.

I ended up choosing the Lobster brand because it is very portable (the sports tutor is probably the most portable machine because of its smaller size), it is very durable (made in the United States unlike many other brands which are made in China despite American or Australian parent company) and they have the most features (and this is why Lobster has the title of World`s Most Advanced Portable Tennis Ball Machine).

I watched the video posted by Steven. Looking at the machines, its seem silly to compare the spinfire pro2 to the Lobster Elite 3. A more appropriate comparison is the Lobster Elite 4 which also has an LCD screen and touchpanel control (no knobs and dials) and a 17 button remote control that allows you to control all features of the machine. I guess the reason why they did not compare it to the Elite 4 is that the Elite 4 would kill it in terms of features.

Not only does the Elite 4 have horizontal and vertical oscillation, you can have them both on at the same time as well! It also has full random mode which covers the entire court and each ball has different speed, spin, trajectory and now even random feed rate (different interval between balls). The last feature which I love is the pre-programmed 6-ball drills. Higher models of the Lobster also allow you to program your own 6-ball drills. A down-side of the Lobster machines is that they are slightly more expensive than other brands.

The video is correct that with most machine you can tell the direction of where the ball will go by looking at the machine itself. Very few machines have internal shooting mechanism and the spinfire pro 2 is one of them and another that I can think of is the playmate and the playmate is one of the most durable machines on the market. I have heard somewhere that the sportstutor is the number one selling ball machine in the world

It is definitely advisable to try a machine before you buy. A lot of manufacturer`s state that their machines can do great things, but they dont size up on the tennis court. A good indicator is also to look at tennis forums for owners opinions.

Hope this was helpful.

Cheers,
