Stan breezes past Carreno Busta in the Indian Well semi-final to face Federer for the title. VIDEO
Stan Wawrinka played another tournament under the radar, and once again he reached another surprising final.
The world no.3 was almost done against the Japanese no.2 Yoshihito Nishioka (4th round) that failed to serve out the match twice against the Swiss, and he edged Thiem in a rough quarter. Strange enough, the semi-final against a surprising Pablo Carreno-Busta was Stan’s easiest contest; Wawrinka won the match 6-3 6-2 after conceding just 10 points on his serve and without conceding a single break point.
The final vs. Federer
Stan will play his dear friend Roger Federer in the final. The head to head is 19-3 for Roger that also leads Stan 8-0 on hard courts. That doesn’t mean that the Swiss no.1 (Stan) has no chances against his friend.
