Roger is excited to play Rafa and he has it clear what to do. VIDEO
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are going to clash again tomorrow in Indian Wells. The two tennis legends have recently played a memorable final at the Australia Open, and Rafael Nadal will do everything he can to avenge that loss.
"Playing free again"
After defeating Johnson in the 3rd round, Roger explained why he is excited to clash against his nemesis, and what he will try to do. Actually, he maintained that 1 thing would be essential. The Swiss commented
"That's why I came here, to play against guys like Rafa. Now we have it. I'm going to be excited now; I'd better be excited now otherwise I came for the wrong reasons.
I try to see it really as another opportunity to build upon something for the rest of the season. So regardless of Australia, winning or losing, I'm going to try to go out there and try to play free again. I think it's really important."
Rafa was a little bit less excited than Roger about the overall situation to comment
“I think it is unlucky part of the draw for everybody. Even if they can have good matches, it’s probably not the best thing to have these matches that early in the tournament.
For the players, it’s not good, because good players are going to go out early. In this case, it doesn’t matter if everybody is playing well because, from our part of the draw, only one of us going to be in that semifinal.”
This clash will be their 36th match. Rafa leads Roger 23-12, but he hasn’t beaten the Maestro for three years, and Federer has won the last two encounters.
