Novak Djokovic gives very nice news to the tennis community announcing his return to competitions next week in Acapulco. The Serbian has accepted a wildcard from the organization.

From Nole

Djokovic posted the following comment on Twitter

“Great news! You'll see me back on court next week in Acapulco at @AbiertoTelcel Did you miss me?”

From the organization

The tournament director, Raul Zurutuza, commented

"This is great news for the tournament. We’re very pleased to have the World No. 2 in the Acapulco field. The public will be very happy, and we’re treating it like a big party. Novak and Rafa are two great players that give very important value to the tournament. Also, having Raonic, Del Potro and Goffin in the field will make this a great event.”

Why this is weird

At the beginning of the month, Djokovic announced that he would not have competed in Dubai because of an injury. Now he chooses to play Acapulco in the same week (?). In addition, the world no.2 has never played a tournament in Latin America in his career with the exception of the recent Olympics in Rio where he lost in the first round to Del Potro.

Probably they offered him more money in Acapulco while in Dubai they were already satisfied with having Murray and Federer. Just guessing

very strange. Probably he didn;t want to face Murray, Federer or Wawrinka to play in a less competitive event
