Nick Kyrgios has just won his first ATP500 in Beijing, and he gives most of the credit to his new fitness coach Martin Skinner.
I was doing nothing before. KYRGIOS
During a recent interview in Shanghai, Nick commented
“I feel like I'm making massive gains off the court and it's obviously showed last week.
To be honest, I wasn't really doing anything physical in the gym for the last year and a half, so I'm just getting in the gym more and doing all the basic stuff, trying to build my strength up.
When he first met me he couldn't really believe where I was physically and what I was doing at this level, so I'm literally just getting in the gym and he's obviously an expert in that field.”
Kyrgios is still determined not to hire any (tennis) coach. The Australian is coachless since splitting with Todd Larkham few days before the start of Wimbledon 2015.
Currently, Nick has just defeated Querrey in the Shanghai opener, and he will face Misha Zverev in the 2nd round.
