Martina Hingis and Andrea Hlavackova are not best friends right now.

What happened?

Martina saved a match point in the women’s semi-final (doubles) after shooting a ball on Hlavackova’s face. That shot was a real KO as Andrea’s orbital bone. Eventually, the Swiss team (Hingis/Bacsinszky) won the semi-final 5-7 7-6 (3) 6-2, but some hard feelings remained.

She could have avoided that. HLAVACKOVA

Andrea was rather unhappy about what has happened to comment "It happens. She's one of the greatest who knows where to put the ball. When I saw the video, and I saw the space which was around me, I have to admit that she could have put it away.

She was more worried about not getting a medical timeout for me than about my eye."

Was it fair for Hingis to hit that shot?

Was it fair for Hingis to hit that shot?

Not a big Olympic spirit in here. BTW, I am sure Hingis could have avoided that

I think that she wanted just to intimidate her. Probably things got a bit out of the way. At the end of the day that specific shot made them to win the semi. Not nice to see though

Come on, it was a match point! I am sure that Martina was just focussed in hitting as hard as she could. I think it was completely unintentional

This is a never ending controversy. In theory in tennis it is "fair" to hit your opponent with the ball, but I also agree that Martina could have avoided that
