Roger Federer has shocked the tennis world by announcing he will not compete anymore in 2016. Everybody knew that the Maestro was particularly focused on the Olympics; so his decision not to play in Rio could hide something really bad.

Why it was a good decision

Roger’s longtime agent, Tony Godsick, explained to ESPN’s Greg Garber that Federer’s decision was the correct one, and there is nothing really wrong with Roger’s body.

“There is no gloom and doom in our camp,” Godsick commented. “The decision was unfortunate, on the face, a bummer, but it was encouraging, too. It shows he still wants to get out there and give it a few more years.

In the end, I think he realized the competition, as tough as it is, you don’t help yourself by playing less than your best. Now he can manage his schedule and take the steps necessary to get bigger, faster and stronger.”

So, there is still hope for the vast army of Federer’s fans!

Will Federer come back at the top in 2017?

Everything sounds a bit fishy. I would not be surprised to know that Federer has another operation to either his back or his knee.

I do not want to be the bad guy, but I am not even sure he will be back. Godsick is his agent and he will say everything to keep Roger`s contracts alive.

In a way I think that Roger`s biggest problem is the back, not the knee. If so, he needs to work on how to change some movements like the serve. He has been caught trying changing the movements of his serve in a recent video. He has already changed a bit the ball toss, but probably that is not enough.
