It’s a tricky moment for tennis umpires as there is a growing trend of threatening them to sue.

What happened?

A few days ago Gilles Simon threatened the umpire in Wimbledon during his match against Dimitrov because the organization wanted him to keep on playing on wet grass. Yesterday, Serena followed Gilles to also threaten the umpire if they didn’t close the roof at the center court. In fact, there was a light drizzle that was making things a bit complicated (and slippery).

It’s too wet

The American said “I’m going to fall. This grass is too wet. I don’t care, why don’t they just close the roof? If I get hurt, I’m gonna sue.”

Eventually, Serena managed to convince the organization and the roof was closed.

I have no intention to sue

After the match, Serena commented “I have no plans, no future of suing Wimbledon. Let’s get serious. That’s not what I do.”

Was Serena right to threaten to sue the umpire?

If that`s how players want to put d blame on the umpire, new rule will let both players to decide themselves. If they can`t come to term, the official would then take stand.

I find this quite unfair. Players try to intimidate chair umpires all the time for their own advantage. Top Players have a rather good success in doing that, but it`s wrong

There is so much money around in tennis, that if a top player gets injured, he or she can have a huge financial loss. It`s a tricky one
