Interesting stuffs in the male draw in Wimbledon.
As we know the seeds didn’t follow the official rankings, but they take in account also the results on grass for the past 2 years. So the first 4 seeds are Djokovic, Nadal, Murray and Federer.
The “big” thing is that Roger and Rafa should clash in the semis, but this time the doubts are more on Nadal’s side. Let’s analyze the draw.
Nadal: Bad luck!
The King of Clay will play in the first round an in-form and really dangerous Martin Klizan. The Slovak is a really talented guy that has never really shined on grass, but he is playing a great tennis. There is some more bad news for the world no.1 as he might play Rosol in the second round (!!!)and we are sure that he will remember when the Czech upset him 2 years ago at the Championships. After that Rafa might play boom boom Karlovic (another guy you really do not want to deal with). If the Spaniard can survive the barrage, later on his path there should be Gasquet, Nishikori/Raonic and Roger.
Quarters - Nishikori/Raonic
Semifinal - Federer
Federer: Good Draw!
Roger had a rather good draw. There is only Benneteau (not in-form) looming in the second round. Then the Maestro might play a struggling Janowicz in the 4th round. In the quarters he could face Wawrinka (he doesn’t really shine on grass) or Isner (he struggles with his movements on grass as well). In the semis Roger might play Nadal, but the Spaniard is probably not ready for the grass and he had a terrible draw, so Roger may play somebody else.
Quarters - Wawrinka/Isner
Semifinal - Nadal/Nishikori/Raonic
Djokovic: Good at the beginning, horrible soon after
Nole had an interesting draw. The 2013 runner-up will have 3 smooth rounds at the beginning, but then he was very unlucky from the 4th round where he should face Tsonga (a very difficult customer on grass). Then in the quarters Nole may play Berdych (the worst possible quarter) and in the semifinal Murray.
Quarters - Berdych
Semifinal - Murray/Ferrer/Dimitrov
Murray: Super draw
Nobody is really expecting Murray to defend his title, but to be honest he had a great draw. Andy may have some problems in the 4th round against Anderson and then he should play either Ferrer or (worse) Dimitrov in the quarters.
3rd Bautista Agut
Quarters - Dimitrov/Ferrer
Semifinal - Djokovic
Murray and Nadal seem to be out of the picture. Rafa is unprepared from a mental and phisical point of view and Murray has lost his best tennis. We stay with Djokovic and Federer, but the Serbian had a very tough draw and Roger had a good one. In addittion the Swiss is playing a great tennis on grass (see his victory in Halle)… so… will it be Roger no.8?
