Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are in fantastic terms even if they share a massive rivalry on court. Even if both are hugely successful, they have a completely different style during the competitions and in choosing their schedules.

Roger Federer has the philosophy of preserving his body so as not to compete in events that may disrupt his fitness (and he may not win). For this reason, Roger has decided not to play the clay court swing to focus entirely on grass and the second part of the season.

Why Rafa will not follow Federer's approach

Rafael Nadal will not follow Roger’s example to comment

"There are tournaments that I can't imagine missing on purpose because they are tournaments that I love to play.

I don't see myself missing Monte Carlo on purpose. I don't see myself missing Wimbledon on purpose, or the U.S. Open, or Australian, or Rome. These kinds of events, I don't see missing.

Of course, when you get older, you need to adjust a little bit more the efforts and the calendar. But for me, it is difficult to say I don't play, for example, grass, or I don't play hard courts. It is not in my plan, but I can't say 'never' because I cannot predict what's going to be in the future."

I think that players need to have the choice of the tournaments they want to play especially if injured or "old". Sometimes you see them competing in event they do not want to play and tanking unwatchable matches.
