Novak Djokovic and Marian Vajda had a fantastic relationship over the years that went far beyond tennis. Even if together they have won everything, eventually they split last year, and things really went south for the Serb that after hiring and firing another couple of (notable) coaches such as Andre Agassi and Radek Stepanek,  he decided to try again with Marian.

Nole and Vajda have been training for the last 10 days, and the results look evident after Djokovic dismantled his compatriot Dusan Lajovic in the Monte Carlo opener (6-0 6-1).

During the post-match press conference, Djokovic commented

“I think this is a fresh start for both of us. I missed him. I have a feeling that he missed me or tennis, or both. We’ve both enjoyed the last 10 days of practice a lot. He knows me better than any tennis coach I’ve worked with. He’s a friend.

He’s someone I can share a lot of things with, whether it’s professional or private life. He’s always there for me. He knows me inside out. He knows what I need in order to get to the highest possible level of play.”

We do not have a long-term commitment

Then Nole added

“We don’t have any kind of long-term commitment with each other. We just want to see how it goes in this tournament. So far there have been a lot of positive things and only positive emotions – every practice session and today on the court. Hopefully, we can keep going in the right direction.”

Djokovic will face Borna Coric in the Monte Carlo 2nd round. That will be an interesting check about his actual condition.
