Rafa the obvious favorite, but...

After the end of Australian open, we can’t wait for the French Open. Unsurprisingly, Rafael Nadal is the favorite in men’s singles. His Roland-Garros titles date all the way back to 2005, and he doesn’t plan to stop. He suffered a right-leg injury which caused him to withdraw from Australian Open but is expected to return after several weeks’ rest. Provided he’s healthy, there is almost no or little chance of anyone else winning the tournament.  However, unexpected things can always happen. For that reason, let’s see who else is among the top contenders for the upcoming tournament

What about Djokovic?

If anyone can pose a serious threat to Nadal, that would be Novak Djokovic. He is the 2016 champion in men’s singles at Roland Garros and one of the only four players to win since Nadal’s dominance at the event. Djokovic is currently recovering from the injury on his right elbow but hopes to get back in action soon. If he gets back in shape by the time the tournament begins, he will definitely be another heavy favorite for the title.

Another Grand Slam champion who hopes to join the French Open action is Stan Wawrinka. He defeated Novak Djokovic for the title at Roland Garros in 2015. Just like Djokovic, he had to take some time away to deal with injury issues. If he manages to recover in time, he could be among the top contenders for the tournament.

Apart from the mentioned veterans, there are some young rising stars such as Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, David Goffin, Kei Nishikori, Nick Kyrgios, Juan Martin del Potro, and Marin Cilic, who will attempt to win the title.

Out of the young stars, Thiem probably has the best chances of winning. Dominic Thiem, an Austrian tennis star, reached the semifinals at the French Open in 2017. Although only 24-years-old, he already has 9 ATP singles titles to his name and has reached up to world No.4 ranking.

Zverev seems to be on the verge of a Grand Slam run. He managed to qualify for the ATP Finals in London in 2017 and could pose quite a challenge to the already established players. The young German seems to be a rising star in men’s singles tennis and looks very promising.

When it comes to women, we should be on the lookout for Caroline Wozniacki, this year’s Australian Open championship, Simona Halep (the current world no.1) and the defending champion Jelena Ostapenko. Although, if Serena Williams is in her top shape, there is almost no chance that she will allow anyone to beat her.

From all this, it can be certainly concluded that we’re up for some really thrilling and unpredictable matches. We can only wait and look forward to it. In the meantime, all of you who consider yourselves experts on tennis that can manage to foresee the outcome of matches, NetBet UK is probably the right place to go to. You’ll get the chance to prove your predictions and earn some money for that. And those who don’t see themselves as experts could do it just for fun.
