Big changes after the ATP1000 in Miami

After a fantastic fortnight in Miami, there are significant changes in the rankings.

The most notable one is Nadal getting back at the top of the rankings after Federer crashed out in the Miami opener. Rafa is back to no.1, but he has just 100pts more than the Swiss. Therefore, the Spanish legend needs to have one his fantastic clay court seasons to stay at the top.

Big John wins his 1st ATP1000 in Miami after a disastrous start of the year (he won only 1 match in 2018 before his run in Florida). After this title, Isner is ranked no.9.

Sascha was 1 set away from winning his 3rd ATP1000 in Miami, but eventually, he fell short at the hands of a fantastic John Isner. After Miami, Zverev is 1 place up in the rankings to be the new world no.4, and he is just 60 points from being ranked no.3. That seems to be a matter of time.

Hyeon had another fantastic run in Miami to lose in the quarters. This run helped the Asian no.1 to break in the top20. He is currently no.19. Next step: top10.

Borna had an outstanding stint in the US following his semifinal in Indian Wells and the quarters in Miami. Coric is now ranked 28 (career high).

Another #nextgen is at a career high. In fact, after reaching the 4th round in Miami, Frances goes up 5 places n the rankings to be the new world no.58.

Stefanos didn’t have a fantastic fortnight to lose in the 1st round in Miami and in the second at the Le Gosier Challenger. Still, after this, he went 1 place up to reach a new world no.69 career high.

Here the rankings.

Not sure both Rafa and Roger care much about the no.1 ranking during the year at this stage of their career. The year-end world no.1 could be still meaningful.

This is funny. In fact, Nadal is back to no.1 without competing. And the same will happen in the opposite direction if Rafa will not win Monte Carlo. Therefore, you can expect Roger to be back to no.1 while on vacation. That`s tennis
