Nick Kyrgios doesn’t have much luck with the Rotterdam ATP500.

Last year, the Australian decided not to compete in Rotterdam to play basketball (???), this year, Nick was completely committed to the event, but unfortunately he got injured in Brisbane to his elbow while playing the Davis Cup tie against German to skip the competition also this year.

The communicate

Nick released the following statement

"I was really looking forward to finally making my debut in Rotterdam in front of the great Dutch crowd that I have heard so much about, but unfortunately I injured my elbow during the Davis Cup in Brisbane.

I have tried to do all I can to be ready to play and have left the withdrawal as late as possible, but unfortunately I ran out of time and won't be able to play. I wish Richard and the organizing team the very best for another great event, and I hope to finally be in Rotterdam in 2019."

Why this is good for Federer

Roger has decided to play the event because if he gets to the semifinals, he will be the oldest tennis player in history to be a world no.1 (at 36 years of age). After Nick withdrew, the defending champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga became a seeded player, and that means that Federer would definitely avoid a dangerous floater in the first rounds of the competition.
