19-year-old Dayana Yastremska had a fantastic 2019. The Ukrainian won the titles in Hua Hin and Strasbourg before ending the season as the deserving world no.22 (career-high) after she started the year well outside the top50.
Dayana is finally taking some time off (Miami?) to recharge her batteries and have an even better 2020 when she is widely expected to break in the top20 and probably go for more.
Thanking her parents and supporters on Instagram
Dayana didn’t miss the chance to thank her parents and all the supporters with a nice message on Instagram saying:
“And there goes season of 2019!
This was a challenging season for me, filled with trials, accomplishments and achievements.😊Today I would like to recall everyone who, despite being close or away, helped and walked along with me during this year: my parents, my relatives, my coaches, my agents and sponsors.
Moreover, I would like in particular to thank all my fans and my beloved haters, and everyone of those who supported and worried about me. Big thanks for each and everyone of you and stay tuned for the announcement regarding next season! 🙏🏼🙌🏼”
Dayana’s mother freak injury
One of the toughest and emotional moments for Dayana was when her mother suffered from a serious eye injury following a freak accident in Melbourne. Eventually, she had a 4 hours’ surgery and Dayana dedicated her Hua Hin title to her.
Dayana Yastremska’s ranking and performance in 2019

This year the Ukrainian has a 34-22 win-loss record. Yastremska has won 2 titles in 2019 in Hua Hin and in Strasbourg.
