Difficult stuff for Genie Bouchard in Beijing, but you could expect that.
After losing a 3 hours match against Venus Williams in the Tokyo quarters, Genie had to immediately take a flight to Beijing to play SaiSai Zheng and Karolina Schmiedovla in the next following days!
Genie didn’t start really well against Karolina to immediately find herself 0-4 down in the opener to lose it 6-4.
In the second set Genie was… Genie to bagel (6-0) Karoline leaving only 13 points to her opponent. In the third set after a false start (Genie was broken in the first game), the Canadian found her way to win the following 5 games and then win the decider 6-3.
Next time it would have been better for the tournament organisation to grant a wild card to such an interesting player…
